Volunteer Requirements

Please read carefully as there are changes to the requirements and the process.

All volunteer requirements will now be tracked and completed online at www.virtus.org. Previous records for all current volunteers within the Diocese of Toledo have already been uploaded in the new system. You can access your record by contacting Amber Riley, ariley@ncsmail.org for your login information. Once logged in you will be able to review completion dates of your Standards Form, Protecting God’s Children (formerly Protecting Our Youth) and background checks, all of which are valid for 5 years.

Please note that all of your completion dates may not show up at this time. If you have questions on when any of your requirements expire please email ariley@ncsmail.org. Once logged in, you will be prompted to complete the items that have expired. Keep in mind if you have already completed the requirements in the past 5 years, they carry forward into the new system and you do not need to renew them until 5 years have passed.

  1. Email Amber Riley, ariley@ncsmail.org for your login information. You will then receive an email from helpdesk@virtus.org with your online account information, along with a link to the site. Be sure to save the email for future reference. Do not create a new account for yourself in Virtus.org. Instead contact Amber Riley for login information to avoid duplicate records in the system!
  2. The Standards Form is available through your online account and signed via electronic signature.
  3. The “Protecting God’s Children” online course is now free.
  4. The Background Check is now an online social security number background check via Selection.com (accessed through the Virtus link you will receive in your email after contacting Amber Riley). The cost for the background check online is usually $25.00. This is in place of the BCI background check/fingerprinting that used to cost $35.00. Selection.com background checks must be completed every 5 years as well.
