When school is on a 2 hour delay:
MORNING PRESCHOOL (3s and 4s) classes will attend school from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. AFTERNOON PRESCHOOL classes attend from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This adjustment is made to balance the school day for morning and afternoon classes.
KINDERGARTEN will attend school from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Students may be dropped off 10 minutes prior to the start of their school day. If you need to drop your student off earlier, you can use the Flyer Clubhouse. Students must be registered to use the Clubhouse before attending the Clubhouse. Call Maria Livengood at 419/668-8480 or stop into her office if you would like to get your child registered, so you will be able to use the Clubhouse on delay days.
THE CLUBHOUSE will be open and available to all Clubhouse registered NCS students in grades Pre 3 through Grade 6 during normal hours, 6:30 am to 6:00 pm on school delay days, but NOT on school closing days.
When school is cancelled, the ECC will be closed for the day. On closing days, both the SCHOOL and the FLYER CLUBHOUSE are closed. On days when a delay is called initially and school is later cancelled, children who were dropped off at the Clubhouse at the start of the day will be sent home. Staff will call the child's emergency contacts in the order listed on their Clubhouse registration form to come pick up the child by 9:30 am. We apologize for this inconvenience!
The One Call Now is our school notification system to deliver phone calls to parents when there are delays and cancellations. If you do not receive a call, you may need to sign up or update your information. You can either contact Amber Riley in the Business office click here to go to the online form to update your contact information.
It is so good for young children to get outside, and to get a break from their day with recess. It helps burn off all that stored energy from sitting and improves their focus when they return to class. If the temperature is at or above 40 degrees and it is dry, we will take recess outside. Please remember to dress your child for the weather--hat, gloves, scarf, winter coat and/or boots. But think layers. At times, our boiler can get over-earnest; it gets very warm in some of the classrooms.
Finally, with all those extra layers comes an increase in our LOST AND FOUND inventory. Don't forget to write your child's name on the tags inside his/her clothes so we can match missing sweaters, hats, mittens, socks (you'd be surprised) to their owner. Feel free to check our lost and found boxes for missing items.
*When the schools are kept open in such weather, it is a parent’s judgment as to whether or not to send the child to school.
