With a combined total of 42 years of service to Norwalk Catholic School and St. Paul High School, Mrs. Valerie French and Mrs. Judy LaConte have announced their retirements.
Mrs. French started at St. Paul High School in the 1996-1997 school year. Starting in the high school theology classroom, she later moved up to lead the high school as principal for 8 years. Upon the merger of St. Paul and St. Mary’s Elementary in 2006, Mrs. French became the first principal of Norwalk Catholic School. One of her major accomplishments as NCS Elementary Principal was earning the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2014. In 2017, Mrs. French went full circle and returned to the High School to teach Theology to the Freshman and Juniors as well as advise the TLC.
Words that came to mind about Val from her long-time co-workers were as follows: kind, compassionate, enthusiastic, hard working, intelligent, artistic and energetic.
“We Live... to Serve!” At any given time you can say “We Live” and you will hear “To Serve!” throughout the halls. This could very well be Mrs. French’s trademark slogan! Mrs. French was always willing to serve and lend a helping hand to numerous projects, committees or retreats. She could be found writing liturgy plans for all school masses, painting decorations or coordinating fundraising and school spirit activities with her TLC classes.
Thank you to Mrs. French for your 25 years of dedicated service to Catholic education!
Congratulations to Mrs. Judy LaConte on her retirement from the NCS Cafeteria Staff!
Judy has been a dedicated NCS team member since she was hired in September 2004. She was a versatile employee for 17 years. Her responsibilities in the kitchen included dish room management, prepping/serving lunches and assisting with clean up of the cafeteria and kitchen after lunch service. With a major emphasis on getting the school buildings ready for opening during the COVID situation, she assisted the housekeeping department with cleaning the Elementary and High School buildings during the 2020 summer months.
“Judy is also a Faithful Flyer Fan! You can see her cheering on our teams at many Flyer events, both at home and away! One time I arrived early for an important Firelands Conference away game for which I knew seating was going to be at a premium. I figured I would be the first fan in attendance, I was WRONG, Judy and her friends were first! GO FLYERS!” says Mike McLauglin, NCS Business Manager.
Not only is Judy an important member of our NCS cafeteria staff, she is also a devoted volunteer for St. Paul Parish lending her assistance in many areas. She is an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister at both church and to the homebound, is part of the Parish Prayer chain and Alpha program and is also a Mass Coordinator.
In retirement Judy will be spending more time with her family, husband Michael (SPH 1975) and daughter Stephanie (SPH 2014). Enjoy all the memorable moments to be made with your family!
