Mrs. Debra Sevit has announced her retirement from Norwalk Catholic School!

After 31 years in the classroom, Mrs. Debra Sevit has closed the gradebook for the last time. Mrs. Sevit has been teaching in the Toledo Diocese her entire career. Her first 9 years she taught at St. Peter’s Elementary in Huron then joined the elementary teaching staff of Norwalk Catholic School in August of 1998.

“Deb is a phenomenal teacher! She represents everything a true Catholic School teacher would be: Deb lives her faith, models this for the children, and goes above and beyond for everyone in her care; she gives her all! Debra is one of the most caring people I know. Her joyous laughter will be missed within our hallways, but she has been a faithful servant of the Lord and we wish her the best as she begins this new chapter in her life!” said Norwalk Catholic School Principal, Melissa Englert

Long time co-teacher of Deb, Amy Weisenberger, went on to say “Not only was she a colleague but a friend. She always had the best interest of the students. We worked diligently to create the NCS history fair. I will greatly miss her.”

While at Norwalk Catholic School, Mrs. Sevit taught 6th grade, focusing on the subjects of religion, math and social studies. She would always come to school early and leave late, as she would lead the annual History/Geography Fair, Veteran’s Mass, Academic Challenge team, elementary Bible study as well as being a member of The Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association Steering Committee.

“Deb is an amazing teacher with a kind and generous heart. My children loved her and have great memories of 6th grade with Mrs. S! Her kindness and compassion will be sorely missed by all of us at NCS. Enjoy your new adventure!!” said Norwalk Catholic School Administrative Assistant, Natalie Livengood.

Norwalk Catholic School president, Martin Linder, applauded Mrs. Sevit by saying, “Mrs. Sevit is such a gifted teacher and epitomizes what a great Catholic School teacher should be. I am blessed to know her and to have worked with her. Mrs. Sevit will always be a part of the Flyer Family. ”
