Greetings and happy almost SUMMER! At least the weather is finally feeling somewhat normal (warmer), even if many other aspects of our lives do not! As we wind down the school year I wanted to make you aware of some important updates and information.
Any students who have textbooks, Chromebooks, library books, and musical instruments (recorders for fourth grade for example) at home, we will exchange these items with what students left at school in March. Please look for an email to come out soon regarding the pickup dates and times. We are planning for 6/2 & 6/3 with a distribution via families first letter of their last name. We are making every effort to have this be a one time pickup/drop-off for all of your children’s items grades 1-11. An email will come to you soon with specifics.
On Tuesday, June 2nd we will release the video of our Elementary Virtual Recognition Awards. There will be a link emailed out via the school Facebook page, as well as emailed to elementary parents. Enjoy the festivities and congratulations to all of our students for their hard work this school year! Certificates will be mailed with grade cards.
The final work for elementary students will be assigned by teachers this week. On Monday, 5/25, there will be no online schooling due to Memorial Day. Any assignments due the week of 5/25/20 will be final for the year. Teachers may assign extension activities for your child from 5/26-6/1, however next week there will be no new work assigned. The reasoning behind this is as follows: if work were assigned the week of 5/25, it would subsequently be due on 6/2/20 and the school year ends that day. On 6/1/20 we would have had our Field Day if we were in school, resulting in there would not have been work assigned regardless.
Please remember to check Mr. Harrington’s Google Classroom for details on our Virtual Elementary Field Day!! The Field Day begins/opens on 5/31 and runs through 6/1/20. Please encourage your children to participate and record videos of themselves recreating the field day activities from Mr. Harrington. Send these videos or still shots to Mr. Harrington. The class with the most points will win an incentive of one ticket per student to Castaway Bay! (We hope and pray Castaway Bay will open this summer for families to be able to utilize the tickets!) We will air the student videos on our school Facebook page, as many pictures/videos as we can, to show our Flyer spirit and the hard work being done from home! (There are even surprise videos coming soon! Mrs. Englert, Fr. Andrew, and Mrs. Livengood created promotional videos for the Virtual Field Day! I have not seen the finished product, but I am sure they are entertaining; you won’t want to miss them!)
It is not too late to sign up for summer tutoring via Google Classroom for students in upcoming grades K-12! Please review the email sent earlier this week for details! If you cannot locate the link, please call the elementary office to register. (419) 668-6091 Families interested must sign up by Tuesday, May 26th.
God bless! Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!
