Dear Flyer Family,
I appreciate the photos and emails parents are sending in of students working on projects! This encourages our teachers in their online learning initiative and is a great way to see our students! I love to see the children’s faces and their hard work! Please continue to email the teachers or myself pictures of your children learning and working on school projects. We will share these as we receive them. School buildings may be closed but school itself is very much still open!
NEWS YOU CAN USE:
We have made a few changes to online learning. Each week teachers will offer a live lesson/meeting to catch up with students. It won’t necessarily be a teaching time but more of a social/emotional experience to see their classmates and connect with their friends and teacher. I am “dropping” into these Google Meets as I can, and seeing the children as well.
We are working on the logistics of a Google Meet for the Elementary Awards Recognition Assembly! Tentatively this is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2nd at 10:00 AM. More information will come out soon, but I wanted to let you know in advance. Students will be able to log on and watch the teachers announce student awards/certificates for their accomplishments throughout the 2019/2020 school year!
Also, Mr. Harrington is announcing next week that he is doing an Elementary Virtual Field Day! This will take place on Sunday, 5/31 and Monday, 6/1. Please see Mr. Harrington’s Google Classroom for more details on Monday, May 18th! We hope families will participate in our Field Day, recording themselves and sending video to either Mr. Harrington or to me.
Parents have asked about grade cards and picking up items left at school. Administration is working on plans for a student item pickup schedule. It will be during the week of 5/31, where we will exchange any items students have from school (Chromebooks, school textbooks, etc.) for the items students left at school. More information will come out regarding this once we have plans finalized. *Dates are subject to change.
For grade cards, we will mail these to parents after the school year ends, as we have done in the past. The fourth quarter will state ( P) or (F) for pass/fail in each subject required.
Sadly, we found out last week Fr. Andrew will be leaving us on July 1st. He has been reassigned to not just one parish, but two parishes in Bryan, OH and Montpelier, OH! We will greatly miss Fr. Andrew and the immense support and enthusiasm he has brought to EVERYTHING he did! Father was the mastermind behind some of our memorable trips/events such as the Henry Ford Museum and the Haunted Hallway. We will do our best to continue these fun experiences for our students in his absence. Hopefully Father will visit us at some point next school year to once again see the students and have an in-person goodbye; I know the children would LOVE to see him again! Please pray for Father during this transition!
As we wind down the current school year, I again want to thank all of you for your support, encouragement, and perseverance as caregivers, in helping the children to continue to learn. No one expected the circumstances we are in when the 2019/2020 school year began. We are Faithful Flyers and I am so very proud to be a part of this family.
God bless and enjoy the beautiful weekend!
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” -Jeremiah 29:11
