May 24, 2019

Dear NCS Parents,

It is hard to believe that our school year is coming to a close! We have had many successes this year and I am extremely proud of our students! We will miss the outgoing sixth grade class as they enter into Junior High School. We also  welcome in August, a new first grade class with loving arms! Thank you for sharing your children with us. Thank you for entrusting us to make a difference not only academically, but spiritually . One part of our mission is to develop disciples of Christ and it is something we take great pride in. Our teachers love what they do and they have a passion for helping children, but none of it would be possible without the kiddos. We are honored to have your children with us and we truly appreciate each child for their unique abilities and outlook on life.

It is with a heavy heart to let you know Sr. Joyce Brennan will not be coming be back to NCS next year. Through her devotion to her vocation and the calling of Jesus, she has been asked  to move to Toledo’s retirement facility and offer her gifts and talents to their community. We will GREATLY miss her joyful personality, her willingness to ALWAYS help, and her pure love for Jesus and the children in her care. Sr. Joyce is a shining example of what her vocation is designed to be. The word Joy can be found within her very name and it could not be more fitting. It will be very difficult to see her leave, however I know we are in her prayers and she will always remain in our hearts. May God bless Sister and be with her on this new journey along her path.

Reminder: Field Day is 5/28. Play clothes and athletic shoes are required. Please remember suntan lotion for your child, especially if they tend to burn. Do not have students bring it to school, as children’s tendency is to share and some children are allergic to various suntan lotions. We do not want any students having a reaction to lotion. Also, please donate $1 for each of your children to help defray the cost of the slushy truck, if you have not done so already.

The classroom books our students use in grades 3-6 called Simple Solutions, are offering a book called Summer Solutions to help close the learning gap and avoid the “summer slide”. The web page to order is www.summersolutions.net and there is a discount code H44857NOR. Each book is $15.99 and per the informational flyer I received, it is a minutes a day work page for your child to retain information they have learned throughout the school year.

Thank you and God bless, Mrs. Englert

Liturgy of the Word with Children (LWC) *All Summer Long! LWC for ages 4 to about 12 will continue to be celebrated at St. Paul Church through the summer months.   The celebrations are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month during the 9am Mass and on the 4th Sunday of the month during the 11am Mass.   The children who participate regularly enjoy it very much!   Father invites the children and their leaders to the altar steps where he sends them forth to the Gathering Space for their Liturgy of the Word.   It is adapted to make it easier for them to understand.   They return to their families in Church after the General Intercessions.   An amazing LWC Ministry Team consisting of adults and teens leads the liturgy celebrations with the children! HELP NEEDED! A few of our team members have moved on to other ministries and we are in need of several adults who are willing help with LWC once or twice during each 4-month period.   We try to have at least 4 leaders helping with each LWC celebration.   If you would like more information about helping with LWC, contact coordinator, Marian Bermudez, at mbermudez@neo.rr.com. Thank you for your willingness to help and we look forward to seeing your children this summer!
